Cláudia Rita Oliveira holds a degree in Communication Design from the University of the Algarve and a bachelor’s degree in Editing from ESTC. She also studied Cinema Studies at FAMU in Prague and completed postgraduate studies in Contemporary Photography at FBAUL in Lisbon. Additionally, she attended a documentary workshop by Ateliers Varan at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Between 2001 and 2008, she worked as a graphic designer for the Ministry of Culture in Faro, as well as for various institutions and companies.
As a film editor, she has received several national and international awards, including the Fénix Film Awards (2017), the EDA Award from the Argentine Association of Audiovisual Editors at the Mar del Plata Festival, and the Sophia Awards from the Portuguese Film Academy. She was also nominated for Best Editing by the Brazilian Film Academy in 2011.
Oliveira directed the documentary Cruzeiro Seixas – The Letters of King Artur, which won the Audience Award at DocLisboa 2016 and was screened at multiple international festivals. In 2020, it was included in the Portuguese National Cinema Plan.
In 2022, she directed In the Pink Corner, a documentary addressing domestic violence and psychological abuse. The film was shown at various national and international festivals. Inspired by its impact, Oliveira shifted the focus of her career and founded the production company Madame Filmes.
