Vasco Monteiro (Oeiras, 1982). Graduated in screenwriting (ESTC – 2005) and earned a master’s degree with merit in documentary film (ESMAD – 2023). He regularly works as a screenwriter with production companies such as SP Televisão, Santa Rita, Ukbar, Olhar de Ulises, Madame Films, among others. More recently, he ventured into the documentary filmmaking realm. His last short film, “The Closing of a Refinery (2023)”, was screened at several international festivals (Clermont-Ferrand, Vila do Conde, Beijing BSFF, Filmambiente, etc…) and was awarded best experimental film at the Moinho Film Festival. He’s currently working on his first feature-length documentary about an old mining town. He works as a tutor in screenwriting with Restart and lectured several short courses. He conducted workshops and participated in the collective films “Futura Paragem (2022)” and “Bussolar (2024)”, and is now working on a collective film included in the cultural program Cultura em Expansão promoted by Porto municipality. He also serves as vice president of APAD (Portuguese Association of Screenwriters and Playwrights).
